Guesthouses, vacation homes, hotels and other temporary accommodation have different characteristics in common, such as the need to document a large number of frequently changing users. In the past, everything had to be done manually, and data was archived using paper and all kinds of analog media. Today, information technology is used for this, which makes it possible to significantly simplify and accelerate the work performed. One of the elements of this system are plastic hotel cards. They have many uses in the hotel industry. They can be used as room keys, thanks to which the hotel system has precise information about who enters and leaves and at what time, and allows for a quick issue of a duplicate card in the event of loss, damage or deactivation. In addition, such a card can be used not only to open the door. It can be integrated with catering services, which allows for faster and more effective customer service, not to mention other services that can be included in the package. But not only customers will feel the benefits of implementing the cards. Hotel employees can use such cards as badges or identifiers, which allows for accurate calculation of, among others, working time and assigning access to different places, assigning tasks etc.

What cards should be used in the hotel industry? In principle, there are no restrictions as to the material, appearance or implemented technology, it only depends on the system used. The most commonly used cards are standard sizes (53.98 mm x 85.60 mm). Can be equipped with a chip, rfid tag like in RFID unique 125Khz cards, magnetic stripe in magnetic cards. When it comes to cards used by customers, e.g. to open doors or in catering outlets, cards are used less frequently there with barcode, it depends on the system used. In solutions for employees, they are most often used for identification purposes and for inventory of goods. Sometimes this can go beyond the hotel itself, such as when a food delivery arrives and the supplier uses the card to validate it. In addition, cards are used, among others as business cards and advertisements.
