There are many situations in life when you need to confirm your authority to perform an activity, the possibility of entering a protected area, or belonging to a given company and the position held there. There are various ways to check this, e.g. paper passes or biometric devices, however, the paper pass is susceptible to destruction or counterfeiting and in most cases requires manual checking by a suitable person, and biometric devices are often very expensive. Plastic identifiers are free from these disadvantages, they are cheap and allow for large automation of the identification process.
Plastic identifiers are used, among others in workplaces or museums as well as at all kinds of events as event badges. You can put a bar code, magnetic stripe or RFID chip on it, which gives the card a lot of possibilities, e.g. door opening, access control or working time control. Managers can use their cards to accept operations requiring authentication. But not only workplaces and event organizers will feel the benefits of using such cards. Doctors in hospitals receive a quick insight into their medical history and patient data after scanning their ID. It is also worth mentioning that all payment and ATM cards are actually identification cards, as they enable the authentication process to be carried out when withdrawing or depositing money from an ATM. Some banks require you to use a card to open the door.
The most common plastic identity cards have a size that complies with the ISO 7810 standard, i.e. they have the same dimensions as a credit card and a thickness of 0.7-0.7 mm, they are made of PVC plastic and have a colored or black and white print in UV technology, and if special plastic is used achieving transparency effect. Usually a photo of the employee is placed on the right or left and next to it are his identification data, sometimes a brief description and bar code. You can place a hologram on it to protect against counterfeiting. The card has a transparent case with a neck leash, which allows you to wear it in a visible place.
